Individual volunteering at OBK
All volunteers must have a current Working With Children Check
Add purpose to your everyday life. Whether you are a student looking filling your volunteer hours or just a good-hearted individual with extra time or skills that you want to donate to a good cause. Well, you've found the right place. The heart of OBK is our volunteers, no matter what stage or age, you're always welcome here.
How to volunteer:
Students/Teens: You must be over 12 years of age. You can apply as a volunteer by pressing on "New Volunteer". Please note all our volunteering hours are recognised as Duke of Edinburgh or any other community service volunteer times. If you require a supervisor to sign forms please bring them to your first volunteer shift.
Adults over 18 years: You must have a valid Working With Children’s check, please press on "WWC" to get a WWC number. Once you have a valid WWC number please sign up by pressing on "New Volunteer".
After you have made your OBK Volunteer profile, you will have access to our scheduled volunteer events, and the details of each event. You may sign up to the times that work for you.
Dress: Please note all volunteers are required to wear closed shoes, long pants, covered shoulders and a cap for food safety compliance.
What to expect when volunteering: volunteers help with a wide range of kitchen activities from food prep, coordination of group activities, to cleaning, packaging, setting up and food distributing. Depending on each day the tasks can vary, usually it is structured around an event at OBK. There are also regular volunteer events for those who can offer more consistent help.
