Add purpose and fulfillment to your everyday life. Whether you're a student needing to complete your volunteer hours or simply a good-hearted individual with extra time and skills that you want to donate to a good cause, you've found the right place. The heart of OBK is our volunteers. No matter what stage of life or age, you're always welcome here.

How to volunteer:

Students/Teens:

You must be over 12 years of age. You can apply to be a volunteer by completing this form. Please note all our volunteering hours are recognised as Duke of Edinburgh or any other community service volunteer times. If you require a supervisor to sign forms please bring them to your first volunteer shift.

Adults over 18 years:

You must have a valid Working With Children’s Check. Please click here to apply for one. Once you have a valid WWCC number, please apply to become a new volunteer.

After you have made your OBK volunteer profile you will have access to our scheduled volunteer events and the details of each event. You may sign up to the times that work for you.

Dress code:

Please note all volunteers are required to wear closed shoes, long pants, covered shoulders and a cap for food safety compliance.

What to expect when volunteering:

Volunteers help with a wide range of kitchen activities from food prep and coordination of group activities, to cleaning, packaging, setting up and food distribution. Depending on the day, the tasks can vary, however usually it's structured around an event at OBK. There are also regular volunteer events for those who are able to offer more consistent help.
